Understanding Autism
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that can affect how individuals communicate, interact socially, process sensory information, and navigate daily routines. Autism is a spectrum, meaning traits and support needs can vary widely across individuals.
Common autism-related characteristics may include:
- Differences in communication or social interaction
- Sensory sensitivities to sound, light, textures, or environments
- Preference for routines or predictability
- Difficulty with transitions or changes
- Emotional regulation challenges
- Focused interests or unique learning styles
Supportive, informed care can help individuals better manage challenges while honoring their individuality and strengths.

- Education and guidance for individuals and families to better understand symptoms and support needs
- Medication management, when appropriate, to help support co-occurring symptoms such as anxiety, attention challenges, or mood regulation
