GeneSight® Testing

GeneSight® testing is a simple genetic test that can help guide psychiatric medication decisions by showing how your body may process certain medications based on your genetics.

Using a quick cheek swab, GeneSight® provides long-lasting results that can be referenced over time. This information can support more informed, personalized conversations about medication options and may reduce trial-and-error when adjusting treatment plans.

GeneSight® testing is available as part of our in-office and telehealth care, and appointments can be booked online. If you’re unsure whether this testing is right for you, we offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to help determine if it fits your needs.

What Is GeneSight® Testing?

GeneSight® is a pharmacogenomic test that analyzes how your genes may affect your response to certain psychiatric medications. Rather than predicting outcomes, the test provides insight into how your body may metabolize or respond to specific medications.

Results are organized in a clear, easy-to-understand report that clinicians can use as a decision-support tool when considering medication options. Because your genetics do not change, GeneSight® testing typically only needs to be done once.

How We Use GeneSight® to Support Symptom Treatment

GeneSight® testing is not used on its own, but as part of a broader, personalized treatment plan. Results are reviewed alongside your symptoms, history, preferences, and prior treatment experiences.

GeneSight® may help with:

  • Identifying medications that may be better tolerated
  • Reducing medication trial-and-error
  • Supporting medication adjustments when symptoms persist
  • Informing long-term medication planning

Testing does not replace clinical judgment, but it can add valuable context to shared decision-making.
